Hoary Vervain (Verbena stricta) is a rugged, drought-tolerant native wildflower ideal for dry prairies, rocky soils, and tough garden spots. This 32-plant pack is a great choice for naturalistic plantings and pollinator gardens where resilience and soft, upright color are key.
Covered in a fine, silvery fuzz, Hoary Vervain’s pale gray-green foliage provides visual interest even before blooming. In early summer, it sends up tall flower spikes topped with rings of intensely lavender blossoms that climb the stalk over time. These shallow flowers attract a wide range of pollinators, especially native bees and butterflies.
This short-lived perennial thrives in poor, dry soils and benefits from some exposed soil at its base to encourage self-seeding. Once established, it asks for little maintenance and helps add vertical texture and color to low-water landscapes.
Why Choose a Tray of Hoary Vervain?
Plant Hoary Vervain in full sun and well-drained, sandy or rocky soil, and enjoy a low-maintenance, visually striking native that adds both texture and habitat to your drought-tolerant garden.
