Steeplebush, also known as Hardhack or Meadowsweet, is a compact native shrub that delivers bold seasonal color and pollinator appeal. Growing 2 to 4 feet tall, it lights up the landscape in mid to late summer with dense, spire-like clusters of pink to purplish flowers that resemble floral steeples. These vibrant blooms are rich in nectar and eagerly visited by native bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects.
Naturally found in wet meadows, streambanks, and low woodlands, Steeplebush thrives in moist, acidic soils and is especially well-suited to rain gardens or wet spots in the yard. In fall, its textured foliage turns golden yellow, adding a final burst of color before dormancy.
Why choose Steeplebush?
