    Details

Virginia Mountain Mint (Pycnanthemum virginianum) is a pollinator magnet that earns its reputation as one of the most wildlife-supportive native perennials. This 32-plant pack is ideal for filling open garden spaces with fragrant foliage, summer blooms, and a buzz of beneficial insect activity.

In mid-summer, the plant is covered with white-green flowers and aromatic foliage that release a strong mint scent when touched. During its bloom, it draws an impressive range of bees, butterflies, wasps, beetles, and flies, making it a biodiversity booster for any native garden.

This mountain mint can spread steadily by rhizomes, especially in young or open gardens. To keep it in check, simply run a shovel around the base in early spring to sever runners. In its first couple years, stems may flop slightly, but flopping decreases as surrounding plants fill in. You can also perform a Chelsea Chop in early summer to encourage bushier growth and reduce height.

Why Choose a Tray of Virginia Mountain Mint?

    • Top-tier pollinator support – Attracts a vast range of beneficial insects.
    • Fragrant and resilient – Strong mint scent, deer-resistant foliage.
    • Easy to manage – Spreads by rhizomes, but controllable with light maintenance.

Plant Virginia Mountain Mint in full to part sun with average to moist soil, and enjoy a low-maintenance, high-impact native that’s as functional as it is fragrant.
