    Details

Orange Coneflower, also known as Showy Black-Eyed Susan, grows in lush, mounding clumps of green foliage topped by vibrant golden-orange flowers from mid-summer into fall. The blooms glow in late-day light and draw in a wide variety of butterflies, bees, and other pollinators. As the season progresses, its dark seed heads become a valuable food source for finches and other songbirds.

This robust perennial spreads by seed and short rhizomes to form dense colonies, making it an excellent choice for filling open spaces in pollinator gardens or naturalized borders. Its extended bloom time and wildlife value make it a mainstay in prairie-inspired and native plant landscapes.

    Why Choose Orange Coneflower?

    • Long bloom time from summer through fall
    • Supports pollinators and provides fall seed for birds
    • Spreads to form beautiful, naturalistic drifts
    • Tolerates a range of soils and moisture levels
    • Great for sunny borders, meadows, and rain gardens

This plant spreads easily—divide clumps or remove seedlings to manage size if needed. Deadheading can prolong bloom, or allow to go to seed for wildlife.
